A system once conceived as a simple blogging platform has now developed into a platform that can be a great CMS (Content Management System). Wordpress boasts a very elegant codebase, as well as an excellent template system that makes design customization easy without breaking the source code. The Sonika Studios Inc. website, which you see in front of you, was conceived using Wordpress alone and nothing else (although with very high-grade template modification and design customization).

Depending on the type of website, and the type of data and frequency of updates, Wordpress can be an excellent CMS at a great budget. 

Strengths

Wordpress, like most of our platform choices, runs on the powerful yet versatile open source engine, PHP, and also utilizes an open-source database platform, MySQL. Running on just open-source platforms, the cost of maintaining the web hosting or server is extremely low compared to other non-open-source platforms.

Wordpress has an advanced page editing template which makes editing pages and posts a breeze, while making it easy to upload or attach photos and Youtube videos. It is also one of the best systems to achieve great natural SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as it has a great URL and Meta structure.

Limitations

Wordpress was originated as a document editing system, and it is not the most suitable for a heavily customized data website. For example, a realtor who constantly uploads, modifies, and removes home listings and photos, Wordpress is not the right choice. For realtors, we already have the Regale Suite ready for you, which we developed in-house over the last few years.

Also, for small businesses which often deal with products or items which need to be organized and categorized, we have a better solution for you than Wordpress - our Brixwork platform, which is a semi-custom database management system of ours.
